Who are we?

Kansas 50501 is part of a National Movement called 50501 No Kings. We were created in Topeka, KS and continue to focus on the capitol. 50501 stands for 50 states, 50 capitols, and 1 movement. Everyone can join 50501, no matter the background, the political affiliation, the history, or past with activism. 50501 stands for ALL, some just some.

We stand for Kansans and all of democracy. We stand for peace. We stand for non-violence. We stand against the regime, and we do not tolerate fascism. Non-violence means we will never encourage extreme action that is possible to cause physical or mental harm to others. We encourage peaceful, joyful, and passionate attitudes. We urge our members to know one important thing – if someone wants to switch sides, they must be welcomed by us and accepted.

Our Mission
End executive overreach
Establish equal rights for ALL
Uphold the Constitution
Three EQUAL branches of government

What do we do?

Kansas 50501 hosts and collaborates with organizations to host groups, spread resources, and create a safe space for all people who are pro-democracy. We work with other local organizations to reach as many Kansans as possible, and make our movement stronger. We often hold events, such as the Not My President event or Human Rights Rally. We also help to organize rapid response across Kansas, and other ways/strategies to keep our communities safe.

The No Kings Day events are primarily held at state capitols, although there are some groups/chapters who host multiple No Kings Day protests in surrounding areas. There are also several
“specialized” groups across the country, such as 50501 Veterans.

What does non-partisan mean?

We will never be “Democrats” or “Liberals” or any other party. Non-partisan means we do not pick any side, we do not collaborate directly with candidates to promote them, and we are not affiliated with any political party.

What do you mean by "volunteer ran?"

No one is paid to do what we do. We are solely ran off of volunteers – people who care enough to dedicate their personal lives, funds, resources, and time to the resistance.

Coordinators and volunteers are unpaid, full of rage, and ready to fight for what’s right in this country. They put in hours of effort every day to make events possible. We created a safety team that is trained in how to handle counter protesters, or any other issues that arise at events, so that we can manage thousands of people who show up to our events.

Who is the leader of Kansas 50501?

No one. The national movement is decentralized, meaning we do not create a system of leadership and following demands. All chapters in every state are created independently and run solely on local volunteers. They choose when and how to participate in national events.

There will never be just one person who changes how the system works.
